NO JOURNEY SKILLS NEEDED!
For
many of us, this time of year brings stress, loneliness, and
feeling "out of sorts" or disconnected. We have many demands on our
time; we may be burdened with many tasks we need to do; and we're
surrounded by frenetic activity. This
is the opposite of what the darkness of this season has to give us - a
time of quiet, of going within to our deep inner well, our own source
of wisdom and creativity and of profound dreams. It is by taking the
journey within and surrendering to the dark that we discover the
potential for transformation and rejuvenation that lies dormant within
us. We emerge from the dark with many gifts to help ourselves, and
others, on our path of awakening. The natural darkness that
occurs during these few months around the winter solstice has its own
mysterious beauty. It is like the beauty of sleep, the beauty of womb,
the beauty of the spirit worlds, the beauty of the void from which all
is created. It has the power to restore us, to set us in the direction
we need to go, and to open our hearts to the great mystery of our lives. We are hosting several gatherings to explore and experience the gifts of the dark - two on Sunday afternoons from 3 to 5,
and two on Tuesday evenings from 7 to 9. The general format of all the gatherings will be similar, but
we will have a different theme and different stories, stretches, guided visualizations and meditations each time.
You are invited to come as often as you like - the effect will be
cumulative! Sunday December 13, 3-5 pm: Dreaming the Dark Tuesday December 15, 7-9 pm: Discovering Wisdom and Creativity Sunday December 27, 3-5 pm: Emerging into transformation Tuesday December 29, 7-9 pm: Rejuvenation and restoration
The program will include time to gather and share hot cider or
tea, and a light snack if you like. We will also have time to reconnect
with our bodies with breath, gentle stretches, and movement. We will
share some of our inspiring seasonal (and other) stories with you, then
lead you into reconnection with the spirit worlds - and the amazing
natural world at solstice - with guided visualizations and meditation.
- Release tension
- Reconnect to yourself
- Recover your body's innate sense of relaxation and peace
- Restore your energy and balance
- Truly experience the joy of the season and your place in the cycle of life
When you carry the connection and perspective from these gatherings out
with you into the busy world, you'll be better able to relax when you're caught in traffic, share a smile with frantic
shoppers, and manage your family obligations with more grace and
inner peace.
You will be better able to take a deep breath when you need to, to look
up and really see the brilliant winter stars, appreciate the dampness
and rain and the way the grasses are now green and lush, enjoy the low
angle of the sun.
